Bideawee, the leading pet welfare and adoption organization serving metropolitan New York, will hold its 2015 Bideawee Ball on Monday, June 15th in Manhattan at The Pierre Hotel with a Parisian style theme. The event will honor outstanding individuals that exemplify the highest standard for promoting animal welfare.
Honorees at this year’s Annual Ball include Todd Richter, Senior
Managing Director, Global Healthcare Investment Banking at Bank of
America Merrill Lynch, and Bideawee’s Trust and Estates attorney
Elisabeth McCarthy for their philanthropic efforts and superior
corporate support of animal welfare and well-being. A graduate of The
College of William and Mary and Indiana University Kelley School of
Business, Todd Richter has been an investment banker to the healthcare
services field for over 30 years. An important part of his
responsibility has been leading Bank of America Merrill Lynch coverage
of the global animal
health sector. It was this professional and
personal passion that first brought Todd to Bideawee 6 years ago. Since
then, he’s adopted his beloved dog Henry from Bideawee, hosted cocktail
receptions to increase awareness, and set up an endowment to ensure the
future of the organization. Mr. Richter has been one of our most
generous donors to-date.
Elisabeth McCarthy, Esq., Bideawee’s Trusts and Estates attorney for almost three decades, received her undergraduate, cum laude, from Fordham University and graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1984.
A trusts and estates practitioner
with specialized expertise in not-for-profit law and related tax
matters, McCarthy has brought tens of millions of dollars to Bideawee as
a tenacious, ethical and passionate advocate in hundreds of court cases
and estate affairs. On a personal level, Ms. McCarthy is a long-time
supporter, Bideawee Ball donor and attendee. She has even become a
recent adopter of Nino, a tiny Yorkie that came to Bideawee at 2 days
old with his two siblings.
Bideawee’s Annual Ball attracts more
than 350 celebrities, philanthropists, business and community leaders,
and lover of dogs and cats each year. The evening is a celebratory event
that generates
renewed excitement and commitment to the Bideawee
mission along with honoring those that go above and beyond in helping to
save the lives of dogs and cats throughout the New York area.
About Bideawee:
Bideawee, which means “stay a while,” in Scottish, is among the
nation’s oldest animal welfare and pet adoption organizations. Founded
in 1903 by Mrs. Flora Kibbe, Bideawee has been providing shelter, care
and compassion to homeless animals helping them to find their forever
home for the past 111 years. With facilities in New York City and two on
Long Island, one in Wantagh, and one in Westhampton, the organization
currently has more than 700 volunteers and 96 employees.
Through a
vast array of traditional and innovative programs and services Bideawee
accompanies pets and pet lovers throughout their entire journey through
life together. From return rates on adopted animals that are well below
the industry norms, an Animal Hospital that has helped more than 75,000
animals in the past 10 years, learning programs and pet therapy, to the
treasured Pet Memorial Parks and pet loss support groups, Bideawee
cultivates and supports the life-long relationship between pets and the
people who love them. For more information visit: www.bideawee.org.
